When cancer is found in its early stages or before it spreads to other body parts, then the potential success of the treatment carried out will be greater, said Denise R Aberle, MD, a researcher of lung cancer at UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, as quoted from Menshealth on Thursday July 7, 2011.

Aberle said an estimated 15 percent of lung cancer patients who survived to 5 years, if they were diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread (metastatic). So it is important to detect this cancer early so that there is potential for healing.

Lung cancer is one of the many types of cancer cause of death for both men and women, but there is no good way to detect it. With CT scans are expected to be a way to detect lung cancer that exists.

If you smoke 1-2 packs a day for 15-30 years, and then ask your doctor about CT for lung cancer if it is approaching the age of 50 years, Aberle advice.

According Abarle there are other ways that could significantly reduce the risk of death from lung cancer is to never start smoking if not yet, but if it is then immediately quit smoking.
