Grains and fiber can reduce the risk of colon cancer

Health Net: Eating fiber and whole grains has long been known to help protect you from cardiovascular disease. Not unexpectedly, food, fiber and whole grains can also reduce the risk of colon cancer.

According to a new study, eating more cereal and whole grains can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer (colon). The researchers from Imperial College London found that every increase of 10 grams of fiber intake in one day, there will be a reduced risk of colon cancer by 10 percent.

This study is somewhat different from the analysis in 25 previous studies that found that fiber fruits and vegetables do not reduce risk of colon cancer. Latest review the results of this study have been published in the British Medical Journal.

Grains include foods such as whole wheat bread, brown rice, cereal, oatmeal and porridge. From the analysis the researchers found that, there is a linear relationship between dietary fiber and colon cancer.

Intake of fiber in an amount sufficient to have some benefits, says Dagfinn Aune, one of the researchers from the department of epidemiology and Biostatistics at Imperial College London, as reported from BBCNewsHealth on Sunday November 13, 2011.

Adding three servings 90 gram/day of grains in the daily diet can lower colon cancer risk by 20 percent.

A previous study has shown a reduced risk of colon cancer because of high intake of fruits and vegetables. It shows that, other compounds from the fiber in fruits and vegetables may explain the mechanism. The health benefits of increasing intake of fiber from whole grains and not limited on benefits for colon cancer only. It also tends to reduce the risk of heart disease (cardiovascular), type diabetes, and mortality due to obesity.

We recommend that the daily balanced diet of high fiber foods such as grains, cereals fruit and vegetables to reduce the risk of colon cancer, said Mark Flannagan, chief executive of Beating Bowel Cancer.

But according to Yinka Ebo of Cancer Research UK, eating lots of fiber is just one of many things that can be done to reduce the risk of disease.

It must also be done in conjunction with maintaining a healthy weight, be physically active, reducing alcohol, red meat, and not smoking. Wheat products should be made more attractive to buyers, says Prof. Anne Tjonneland from the Danish Cancer Society.

Results were considered to be very useful for healthy diet recommendations daily. However, it still needs to be done several studies to clarify the quantity and type of fiber that must be consumed to reduce the risk of colon cancer.

Drinking water can reduce the risk of bladder cancer

Health Net: Men who drank more than 2 liters of water per day can reduce the risk of bladder cancer nearly a quarter, according to researchers.

A survey of 48,000 people found that those who drank more than 2531 milliliters of fluid a day had 24 percent lower risk of bladder cancer. This could be due to the rinsing fluid bladder cancer-causing agents out before they can cause damage.

Brown University scientists analyzed the responses to questionnaires from the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study, which surveyed men aged 40 and above during the period of 22 years.

Participants were asked about how much fluid they drink regularly at intervals of four years. And the result shows that the benefits of drinking fluids are higher for younger men, and their relationship becomes weaker with age. The study, presented at a U.S. cancer conference also showed that males reduce their intake of fluids especially water when they get older.

More than 10,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with bladder cancer each year and the disease is the fourth most common cancer among men. The disease is more common among men than women and most often occurs between the ages of 50 and 80 years.

Vitamin E could trigger prostate cancer

Health Net: Consuming vitamin E per day may increase the risk of prostate cancer in men. This is revealed in a recent study conducted to see the potential hazards associated with regular use of some food supplements.

Men who consume vitamin E during a period of seven years, the risk of prostate cancer is 17% higher than those using a placebo a kind of artificial treatment performed by doctors of a particular disease. The findings are published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

This study is a follow-up of the experiment in 2008 to 35 thousand men designed to see if the supplements help prevent prostate cancer. Such findings reinforce the emerging research that states that some vitamins and supplements commonly used by about 234 million American adults may be more harmful than beneficial. A study published in Archives of Internal Medicine also recently concluded that the use of multivitamins and supplements, including folic acid, iron, magnesium, and copper, is associated with mortality in older women.

There is no reason for men to consume vitamin E, said Eric Klein, doctors at the Cleveland Clinic, who is also vice chairman of the investigators of this research. These supplements showed no benefit and some even risky.

This research, called SELECT (Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention), was designed to see whether one or both substances can prevent prostate cancer. Last May, said the researchers, Data and Safety Monitoring Committee to check the experimental data and recommended the report of the findings regarding the risk of prostate cancer.

Recent data show that those who consume 400 units of vitamin E every day internationally experienced an average of 76 cases of cancer per 1,000 participants, compared with 65 cases in the placebo group.

The increase in risk by 17% found in the group of participants who only consume vitamin E. Those who consume a combination of vitamin E and selenium did not show a significantly increased risk.

This study is the largest, most definitely, and the first to show that there is a chance that harm from the consumption of vitamin E on a regular basis, said Leslie Ford, deputy director for clinical research at the National Cancer Institute.

Pancreatic cancer, the aggressive cancer and can growing quickly

Health Net: Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive and growing quickly, which is about five years after diagnosis. Cancer is usually located at the top of the pancreas organ that helps break the food to be absorbed by the body to shut down the bile duct and cause jaundice (hepatitis).

Professor Minoti Apte, from the School of Medical Sciences at the University of NSW Australia, say, in the Western world, pancreatic cancer is the fourth highest cause of death due to cancer or cancer related diseases. It's certainly devastating, because patients have a miserable prognosis. On average only lasts five years or less than five percent of all cases, said Professor Apte.

Many things are the cause, but the main one is delay in diagnosis, he continued.

According to Professor Apte, the high number of deaths from pancreatic cancer because the symptoms are not clear so that the diagnosis of late. Once diagnosed, the disease has spread to other organs.

Among the symptoms are hard to see it is a pain in the abdomen or just did not feel well. Depending on the position of the cancer, said Professor Apte, sometimes even no symptoms at all.

Risk factors that cause pancreatic cancer, including smoking and diabetes wounds in the pancreatic duct. However, existing studies so far have not revealed the relationship of this cancer to lifestyle, such as drinking alcohol or diet.

It said Professor Apte, this cancer usually strikes people 65 years old. Treatment is usually undertaken are surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Based on information from NSW Cancer Council on the site, as many as 686 people in New South Wales diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year. In the state, pancreatic cancer occupying 13th position as a cancer commonly experienced by local residents.

Until now, pancreatic cancer is a type of cancer that is still in research in Australia and on the other side to be one cause of death. Therefore, pancreatic cancer remains deadly like 50 years ago, says the site.

New medicines are developed for people with Leukemia

Health Net: Team of researchers in England has just discovered a medicine that could treat leukemia or blood cancer.

Researchers from the University of Cambridge, in England, announced the formation of a new drug that can be used to treat one of the most common forms of Leukemia, mixed lineage leukemia (MLL), which is caused by leukemia fusion hereditary factors. This condition often affects infants.

In a paper published in the scientific journal Nature October 2 edition. The team said that the Leukemia medicines shows promise something when conducted trials and tests they plan to expand them further.

More than 10 percent of all adults diagnosed with leukemia caused by MLL. However, more severe in children, where 80 percent of all cases of acute leukemia is believed to be due to the MLL. Standard treatment often fails to cure such patients. It is quoted by Softpedia on Tuesday October 4, 2011.

Even if they managed to do the healing, then the time will not be long because this disease has a bad habit to come back. This happens because the form of blood cancer also has a genetic basis.

The new investigation also involves experts from the Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute and the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research. Researchers from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Cellzome AG also contributed to the research, funded by Cancer Research UK.

Together, the investigators determined that the BET family of proteins responsible for leading the fusion protein with a target gene that causes leukemia. BET molecules recognize specific chemical part in the formation of DNA called chromatin.

GSK made chemical compounds developed from I-BET151; this compound has been shown to divert attention from BET protein, thereby preventing them to provide fusion proteins to target them early.

Experts say this method has been used exclusively in mouse models and in human cancer cell cultures in the laboratory. So far, the research approach is proven to work, so the team hopes to soon conduct clinical trials.

Our work shows that depend on the type of leukemia in which MLL protein capable of binding to chromatin through BET, said Professor Tony Kouzarides, deputy director of the Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute.

This is an 'epigenetic', the approach used for targeted therapy with chromatin DNA. This approach is exciting new avenues for drug discovery which we hope will be useful for cancer types other than MLL leukemia, he added.

MLL is very difficult to treat leukemia and the only option for patients who are resistant to standard leukemia treatment is bone marrow transplantation. We hope these findings will mean in future to healing by using this procedure to the children, explains Dr Brian Huntly from the University of Cambridge Institute for Medical Research.

Is it true that men are more at risk of developing colon cancer?

Health Net: The men have a higher risk of developing colon cancer than women. Therefore they are advised to do a colon at the age of 45 years or five years earlier than previously recommended.

Researchers in a study published in the journal of the American Medical Association, found that men 1.8 times higher chance of benign tumors, which may evolve into more virulent and has a two times higher odds of colon cancer symptoms. The findings also reveal that men are affected by this disease at the age of 10 years earlier than women.

According to data at the American Cancer Society, more than 141 thousand people in America diagnosed with colon cancer this year and nearly 50 thousand of them will die from it. The number of men who had colon cancer and die from this disease about 35-40 percent higher than women.

We must raise awareness of these gender differences and emphasize the importance of early screening colonoscopy, said Monika Ferlitsch, assistant professor of health at the Medical University of Vienna, who led the research.

It is said Ferlitsch, a combination of lifestyle and genetic factors is the cause of men exposed to higher chance of bowel cancer. He added that women should also perform the same tests at the age of 50 years. But in reality, only half of people aged 50 years are recommended to do tests that are done.

The research on colon cancer is done by researching the 44,350 people who follow the colonoscopy screening program in Austria in 2007 until 2010. The researchers were looking for the right age to do this test, both men and women. Further research, according to Ferlitsch, is required to see the effectiveness of the implementation of screening colonoscopy based on gender differences.

However, these findings reveal that the male gender is an independent risk factor of colon cancer symptoms for the occurrence of colon cancer and a sign of injury, and demonstrate the latest recommendations for screening colonoscopy by age and gender.

Does stress cause breast cancer?

Health Net: Does stress have a role in the occurrence of breast cancer. Researchers from The University of Illinois at Chicago, USA, to test it. The result, all components are referred to as psychosocial stress, including fear, fatigue, and feeling alienated, can interfere with the autonomic nervous system which helps regulate heartbeat, breathing and other vital functions of the body.

Then, the researchers met 989 women diagnosed with breast cancer in the previous three months and ask lots of questions to calculate their stress levels. The result, it is known that there is a relationship between stress and disease in women with the highest score of stress are more likely to develop breast cancer is active.

More specifically, the researchers found that women who experience stress 38 percent higher chance of developing cancer that is estrogen receptor-negative. These tumors do not respond to therapies that are intended to cut off the estrogen, which means that drugs such as tamoxifen, ralovista), Arimidex or otherwise, will not help.

After entering the other components, such as the woman's age and level of their cancer when diagnosed, it is known that women are more stressed still had 22 percent higher chance of developing cancer that is estrogen receptor negative.

The researchers also found that women with the highest stress levels had an 18 percent higher chance of developing high levels of tumor that is more active than low-level tumor. However, when the researchers put their age and level components of cancer, this relationship disappears.

In addition, breast cancer patients who were black or dark have this level of stress score higher on average, than those who were white.

However, the results of this study still leave questions about whether a woman with cancer who are already active under conditions of stress before they are known to have breast cancer.

Because very understandable, if diagnosed with cancer especially those active it will make sense of calm a woman who was originally to be disturbed. In a presentation made earlier this week at a conference staged by the American Association for Cancer Research on health disparities and cancer, the research team admitted it. They say that patients are stressed when they interviewed would be more stress before they know that they are sick.

It is unclear how these relationships occur, said Garth Rauscher. Maybe the stress level of patients affected by tumor activity. It may be diagnosed with active tumor, with a diagnosis of anxiety and stressful treatment, affect the results of this study. But it may also both have the same role in the relationship. We do not know the answer to that question.

Parasites in cats anticipated can increase the risk of brain cancer

Health-Net: Toxoplasmosis parasite often found in cat feces and can be attached anywhere and transmitted to humans. Not just dangerous for pregnant women, this parasite is also suspected to increase the risk of brain cancer in people who are infected.

A study conducted by experts from the CNRS Institute in Montpellier reveals, countries with high Toxoplasmosis infection rates tend to have more cases of brain cancer. Though the results of these observations have been adjusted by other factors, including income levels.

In animals, Toxoplasmosis infection had been shown to affect the brain. In addition to trigger cancer, parasitic infections also cause behavioral changes, such as in mice so have no fear, so easily torn to pieces and eaten by cats.

While in humans, has been assessed pregnant women at risk just because it feared could be fatal to the health of the fetus. With the latest research results, then the adults can also have an increased risk of fatal infection caused by Toxoplasmosis.

However, the researchers claimed to have seen only an association but not yet proved that the Toxoplasmosis parasite cat litter is the trigger cancer in the brain. However, to conclude that there should be more research.

At least by knowing the relationship between toxoplasmosis with brain cancer, there are greater opportunities to reduce the risk of brain cancer, said one researcher, as quoted from Thomas Frederich Dailymail.

To reduce the risk of Toxoplasmosis infection in humans, the researchers advised to frequently clean the cats and other pets. Also, avoid eating undercooked meat and inhaling dust or anything that may be contaminated with cat feces.

Tall women more at risk of getting cancer

Health-Net: Having a high body must be the hope of most people. However, recent studies have shown that women who are tall have a greater risk of suffering from cancer.

A study has been published in the journal Lancet suggests that tall women have a greater risk of developing 10 different types of cancer.

The highest group, women with a height of 5 feet 9 inches or higher, 37 percent more likely to develop cancer than the shortest group, namely women 5 feet or shorter, without factors such as age, marital status, socioeconomic, body mass index and amount of physical activity, explains Jane Green, clinical epidemiologist at Oxford University, as reported by CNN on Friday July 22, 2011.

There are approximately 97,376 reported incidents of cancer among women are associated with height, the largest bowel cancer, malignant melanoma, breast, endometrial, kidney, central nervous system, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and leukemia.

According to a study which followed 1.3 million middle-aged women in England for several years, found that cancer risk increases by about 16 percent for every 4 inches or 10 cm height women.

The study did not investigate the specific causes of increased cancer risk in women who are high but the results of this study add to the results of other studies that have found an association between cancer and height.

Study authors are not sure what that actually increases the risk of cancer, but they believe there are several theories that require further investigation.

While researchers suspect the reason is because people have much higher cells, thus possess a greater opportunity to have mutations that lead to malignant transformation. In addition, growth hormone is believed to also contribute to cancer risk.

"Growth hormone increases cell growth and division level, and inhibit cell death. Both of these may be relevant to cancer, either directly or perhaps by simply increasing the number of cell divisions during the mutation can occur in a cell's DNA," explains Green.

But experts at the American Cancer Society say that people who are high should not have to worry with these findings. Experts say smoking is a much bigger factor for cancer risk than height.

"The bottom line is the short or higher can reduce the risk of developing and dying from cancer by not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight and perform the recommended cancer screening tests," said Eric Jacobs, strategic director of pharmacoepidemiology at the American Cancer Society.

Men are more risk of dying from cancer than women

Health-Net: Epidemiology journal Cancer, Biomarkers & Prevention released the latest research on diseases that attack the body's cell growth is not normal. The result is men are more at risk of death from esophageal cancer in women.

According to Doctor Michael B. Cook there some deadly type of cancer that is lip cancer, hypofaring, esophagus and bladder. Men are more at risk of dying than women, he told Huffingtonpost on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

Cook details the possibility of men die from lip cancer than 100 thousand inhabitants is 5.5 men to 1 woman. Hypofaring As for cancer, esophageal and bladder each man 4:47, 4:08 and 3.36 men to 1 woman man.

Several types of cancers such as lung and large USU men were at risk of attack. Smoking is one of the reasons why men are more at risk of getting cancer, said Cook.

This is the first study that compares the likelihood of the cancer risk of dying men than women. So important to detect cancer early, says Doctor Rachel Ceballos from Hutchinson Cancer Research Center who praised the study.

UN agencies that deal with health, WHO, estimated that 84 million people will die from cancer in 2005 to 2015. In 2005, according to WHO, about 7.6 million people died of cancer. More than 70 percent occur in middle-income countries and low.

Prostate cancer can strike younger men

Health-Net: The prostate gland is an organ at the Adam's unique organ that could be said. First because its position is hidden until no easily identified if there is a problem. The second is due to its function as a manufacturer of nutritional fluid for sperm. In men, this gland has been there since infancy, only the most recent one gram size.

In his journey there are three issues that often descend prostate. Namely inflammation, prostitutes or an enlarged prostate gland without the presence of malignancy, and the last is the most feared of prostate cancer. The third problem is not only attacked older adults. Because there are one or two cases where the men of productive age, 25-30 years old, already inflamed. That is when experiencing high stress, such as business career.

In contrast to inflammation in cancer, there is a new cell growth or proliferation of cells that do not correspond to the ideal growth pattern. These cancer cells can then be spread, even into bone cells resulting in bone loss.

Those who have high risk should be aware from the beginning. For instance those who like to consume a high fat, less sunlight, heavy metal exposure, family history and racial factors. There is a hereditary risk factors as much as five percent. While other experts because until now still do not know the exact cause.

When in fact high risk patients who feel the symptoms recognize its symptoms such as frequent night waking to urinate, urinating more than eight times in a day and night, weak urinary stream to wet the tip of a shoe or have to push and not or incomplete urination. Further symptoms can be characterized by sperm or urine, which often mixed with blood, erectile disorders, bone pain caused by cancer cells have spread like the spine and hip bone.

With digital rectal examination. Although it sounds uncomfortable, this is actually an ordinary examination. And it can only be determined in this way because the position of the prostate is much hidden. In addition to digital rectal emotion also confirmed by blood tests with PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen.

Necessary health tests for smokers

Health-Net: Smokers have a higher risk of various diseases including cancer. Some medical tests necessary to smokers and most of a CT scan of the lung.

Examination of lung CT scans conducted on each of smokers especially those who have smoked for long periods can lower the chances he died of lung cancer by 20 percent.

In the study, participants who were included more than 50,000 people at high risk for cancer (smoking a pack a day for 30 years). Participants conducted a test with low dose CT scan of the chest every year for 3 years.

When cancer is found in its early stages or before it spreads to other body parts, then the potential success of the treatment carried out will be greater, said Denise R Aberle, MD, a researcher of lung cancer at UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, as quoted from Menshealth on Thursday July 7, 2011.

Aberle said an estimated 15 percent of lung cancer patients who survived to 5 years, if they were diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread (metastatic). So it is important to detect this cancer early so that there is potential for healing.

Lung cancer is one of the many types of cancer cause of death for both men and women, but there is no good way to detect it. With CT scans are expected to be a way to detect lung cancer that exists.

If you smoke 1-2 packs a day for 15-30 years, and then ask your doctor about CT for lung cancer if it is approaching the age of 50 years, Aberle advice.

According Abarle there are other ways that could significantly reduce the risk of death from lung cancer is to never start smoking if not yet, but if it is then immediately quit smoking.

Prevent cancer with Papaya fruit

Health-Net: Some fruit is known to have many benefits to the called superfruit. Now there is one more called superfruit and known to be useful to prevent cancer, the papaya fruit.

Papaya is one food that contains sycophant, which is a nutrient known to be very efectif in preventing and combating the spread of cancer cells.

A recent study found sycophant stimulate the level of defense cells in the body to fight cancer. This can prevent damage to DNA and lipids that inhibit the spread of cancer, as quoted from Menshealth on Saturday July 2, 2011.

Researchers from the University of Florida found that the papaya can be an effective anticancer agent against cervical cancer, breast, liver, lungs and pancreas. These results have been published in the Journal of Ethno pharmacology.

It is known after researchers conducted tests using a tea made from dried papaya leaf extract. Papaya is known to increase the production of chemicals that regulate the immune system.

Dr. Nam Dang from the University of Florida said papaya extracts tested in this laboratory does not have toxic effects on normal cells, so that possibility can be used as alternative medicine. Still, further research is needed to determine their effect on entry into the body.

In addition to containing sycophant, papaya also has other content that is as a source of vitamin C, potassium and folic acid which makes it a very healthy fruit.

Fruits and vegetables contain other compounds are quite good sycophant tomatoes, watermelon and pink grapefruit. Generally rich in foods containing meat sycophant have colorful.

10 Things you can do to reduce the risk of breast cancer

Health-Net: Type of cancer that women most fear is breast cancer, because if late diagnosis can lead to death. But there are some things you can do to reduce risks.

Breast cancer is not hereditary diseases. In fact cases of breast cancer is strongly influenced by environment, lifestyle and choice of contraceptives, said Dr. Marisa C. Weiss, as president and founder of Breastcancer.org, as quoted from ABCNews on Friday July 1, 2011.

Weiss said that exposure to chemicals found in food, drink, air that is inhaled, consumed drugs and some personal products can affect the development and performance of breast cells every day, thus increasing the risk of breast cancer.

The presence or absence of family history of cancer, there are still many things we can do to reduce the risks and chose to do a healthy lifestyle, he said.

Here are some things you can do to reduce the risk of breast cancer are:
  1. Having a healthy weight and keep it from excessive or less, thus reducing one risk factor for breast cancer.
  2. Exercise regularly at least 3-4 hours in one week, but if it could be more of it will be much better.
  3. Avoiding alcohol, according to a 2007 study known to the incidence of breast cancer increases if you consume alcohol.
  4. Quitting smoking and avoiding exposure to smoke and places that have exposure to cigarette smoke.
  5. Absorb a little sunshine to get vitamin D.
  6. Avoid cooking or heating food in plastic containers or PANDI which could lead to harmful chemicals can be exposed to hot air. Consider the material of stainless steel, ceramic or metal for cooking, serving food and save the.
  7. Having a healthy diet with reduced fried foods, fast food or packaged ready to use. eating fruits and vegetables that have been washed first.8. Consuming water that has been thoroughly cooked and through filtering.
  8. Having enough sleep patterns every day, because enough sleep can help repair and maintain a person's immune system.
  9. Selecting safe household products, such as avoiding the use of pesticides and other products known to contain harmful chemicals.

Chewing Gum can help the Colon Cancer Recovery

Health-Net: Chewing gum could actually help cancer patients recover quickly after their intestinal surgery. Doctors at a hospital in London, England, suggested to the colon cancer patients to chew gum with sugar low so that their digestive systems back to normal so quickly recovered.

Research shows that patients who had undergone surgery two days of bowel cancer could quickly return if the chewing gum. Chewing gum also helps the mother who is recovering from a caesarean, as well as patients undergoing abdominal surgery. Before digestion they recover, they can experience severe cramps.

Once there the study, surgeons at University College London hospitals ask patients to undergo colon cancer surgery to provide a stock of gum. They have to chew gum three times a day, each within an hour, after undergoing surgery.

Pages of The Telegraph on Sunday June 26, 2011, wrote that many patients who undergo surgery to benefit after chewing gum. Consultant surgeon, Alastair Windsor, said the general, patients take a long time to recover after surgery because their digestive system is asleep.

It seems that chewing gum can trigger the saliva, which can turn on enzyme production in the pancreas which then triggers the digestion becomes active again, said Windsor.

Generally, the patient liked the way it is because they feel to do something to help them quickly recover. Not known how quickly chewing gum may help recovery, but that does not mean it that way is underestimated.

Getting marriage can help cancer patients to survive

Health-Net: Getting married is one of the most beautiful moments in life. However, many cancer survivors afraid to get married for fear of wasting time and it will bother others.

In fact, according to a study conducted in the United States, cancer patients may increase the chances of healing of malignant cells in their bodies by getting married.

As in reports from the Daily Mail, a study conducted by Penn State College of Medicine and Brigham Young University revealed that cancer patients who get married have a 14 percent lower risk of escape from death. This occurs both with men and women.

The study also showed that the patient's condition can be diagnosed early. They are also more willing to take aggressive treatment such as chemotherapy.

However, researchers do not yet know how the institution of marriage can help cancer patients to survive. They speculate, the couple can care for and encourage the spirit to overcome the disease.

According to Sven Wilson, co-author and professor from Brigham Young University, the most important key to controlling the healing process is the stage at which cancer was detected. This is what underlies the next step after diagnosis.

With a partner, the patient will be helpful in determining the types of problems. So quick to take action, he said.

But unfortunately, the study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology comparison did not examine the health of people with cancer who are married and unmarried.

List of 8 New Compound can Causes Cancer

Health-Net: Several compounds known to cause cancer (carcinogenic). And now there are 8 new compounds are included in the category of carcinogens that warrant concern.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported eight new carcinogenic compounds are formaldehyde, aristolochic acid, 0-nitrotoluen, captafol, cobalt-tungsten carbide (either in the form of powder or hard metal), riddelliine, certain glass fiber and styrene. So now there are about 240 listed carcinogens compound list.

Reducing exposure to couse of cancer agent is something that everyone wants, and this report provides important information on substances that could pose a risk of cancer, says Linda Birnbaum, PhD, director of the NIEHS (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences) and NTP (National Toxicology Program) as quoted from Medicalnewstoday on Monday June 13, 2011.

Eight compounds classified as carcinogens are:

1. Aristolochic acid
People with kidney disease who consume vegetable products with aristolochic acid were found to have a higher risk of bladder cancer and upper urinary tract. These acids are found in some herbal products such as drugs for inflammation, gout and arthritis.

2. Formaldehyde
We have strong evidence from human studies that show people with high exposure to formaldehyde had a greater risk of nasopharyngeal cancer, sinonasal and myeloid leukemia. This compound is colorless, flammable and used in the production of synthetic fibers, textiles, coating products, preservatives, products for hair straightening.

3. Captafol
These compounds used in fungicides to protect fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants and grasses of the fungus. In the United States already prohibits the use of this compound since 1999, and animal experiments on rats have shown exposure to these compounds could cause tumors.

4. Cobalt-tungsten carbide
These compounds are used for cutting or grinding tool and a few products in the industry. Hard metals are often referred to as cemented.

5. Fiber glass wool
Some glass wool and artificial fibers have been identified can get into the respiratory tract, extremely durable and stay in the lungs for a long time (biopersisten).

6. O-nitrotoluen
Laboratory studies on mice showed tumor formation due to this substance. This substance is used as a dye for paper, leather, silk, wool and cotton as well as for agricultural chemicals, pesticides, petrochemicals, rubber chemicals, materials and medicines. This substance can also be found in water near ammunition facilities and military training facilities.

7. Riddelliine
This substance is found in the plant genus Senecio that grow in sandy areas in the U.S., laboratory study finds higher risk of having liver cancer and leukemia in rats and lung cancer in mice. Exposure in humans could occur if you consume tea, honey, herbal medicine or food from animals fed contaminated plant.

8. Styrene
These synthetic chemicals are used globally in the manufacture of plastics, insulation, iberglass, pipes, food containers, carpet backing and car parts. Human exposure can occur by inhaling styrene from secondhand smoke, building materials and other products. In limited studies indicate a higher risk of lymphohematopoietic cancer and genetic damage in lymphocytes.

Compounds are included in the list of carcinogens does not by itself can cause cancer, but there are many factors that cause cancer, including how long he was exposed and the vulnerability of a person against a particular substance.

11 Cancer Symptoms that should be aware

Health-Net: Cancer is a disease is a scourge for many people. However, cancer can still be treated if early detection of cancer. For that, there are some symptoms of cancer need to be aware and should not be ignored.

Early symptoms of cancer are often ignored by patients because they can disappear by itself. Whereas the earlier the cancer is detected, the greater the life expectancy of patients.

At least 11 cancer symptoms that should be aware, as reported by Lifemojo on Saturday June 11, 2011:

1. Lost weight unexpectedly
Many women would love to lose weight without exercise or strict dieting, but this may turn into cancer unless symptoms are not caused by a hyperactive thyroid gland. Therefore, weight loss unexpected and unintentional should not be ignored.

2. Bloating
Bloating is so generally felt by many people, but if you constantly feel bloated for a longer period of time, then that is something that should not be ignored. Beware of other symptoms such as pelvic pain, urinary problems, incontinence (inability to control bowel movements) and a feeling of fullness even without eating a lot. These symptoms may show symptoms of ovarian cancer.

3. Changes in the breast
To raise awareness of breast cancer, many women today have developed the habit of self examination. They usually look for lumps, but this is not the only symptom. Women also have to be careful redness and thickening of the skin of the breast. Rash for a few weeks will require medical attention.

4. Unusual bleeding
If you are experiencing unusual bleeding between menstrual periods, then it should not be ignored. Unfortunately, many women tend to ignore this pramanopause. This can be a symptom of uterine cancer, endometrial or colorectal. If blood appears in the urine or feces will be more than just hemorrhoids. This could indicate colon cancer, bladder or kidney.

5. Skin changes
Be wary of pigmented skin changes such as excessive bleeding or the formation of a new mole. This can be a symptom of skin cancer.

6. Difficulty swallowing
Difficulty in swallowing food or discomfort after swallowing the food, if it continues to occur over several days, then must get a doctor's attention. This may show throat cancer.

7. Changes in the mouth
If you are a smoker or consume any form of tobacco, then you will need to check every white patch on the tongue and the inside of the mouth. This can be a sign of cancer of the mouth or leukoplakia.

8. Constant pain
The American Cancer Society states that any continuous pain or pain in the body should be examined as a symptom of cancer, despite all the pain does not always indicate cancer growth.

9. Changes in the lymph nodes
If there is enlargement of lymph nodes in the neck or underarm and lasts for more than a month, it is necessary to get medical attention.

10. Fever and persistent cough
When the fever and cough occur continuously but not caused by influenza or other infections, then it could be a symptom of leukemia or lymphoma. Coughing can accompany a cold or flu and fever, but if the cough persists for more than 3 weeks, it should not be ignored.

11. Changes in testicular
Testicular cancer is more common in men in the age group 20 to 39 years. Testicular self-examination on a regular basis needs to be done and any changes in appearance should not be ignored.

Urine Test for Early Detection of Cancer

Health-Net: Some cancers can be detected by conducting various tests. Now the study found a urine test that can be used simply for early detection of cancer.

Researchers reveal a protein found in the urine of patients with stomach pain cancer, colon cancer and pancreatic can help diagnose the disease even in people who have not found cancer symptoms.

If cause of cancer can be diagnosed early then it is likely to further increase survival, said chairman Dr Holger Husi studies from the University of Edinburgh, as quoted from Dailymail on Friday June 10, 2011.

Dr Husi said the purpose of this research is to help early detection of cancer, allowing physicians to treat cancer disease before it spreads to other organs.

Most patients are diagnosed when cancer can no longer be treated with surgery and get into the advanced stage, whereas in the early stages can be treated with surgery or chemotherapy allows patients to recover, he said.

Studies reported in the journal Proteomics-Clinical Applications found 6 types of proteins found in the sample 98 percent of cancer patients and not found in non-cancer patients.

But investigators eventually narrow down these molecules into two types of protein called S100A6 and S1009 are most likely to occur in patients with upper gastrointestinal cancer.

The results of this study become important because only about 10 percent of patients with upper digestive tract cancers that can survive for up to 5 years after diagnosis. This is because these cancers tend to be aggressive and often undetected until it reaches an advanced stage.

Frog skin for Cancer Treatment

Health-Net: Frog or toad is still rarely used as a medicine and is often cultivated as a food ingredient. But the researchers found that frog skin can be a medicine for 70 major diseases including cancer.

The scientists from Queen’s University Belfast have won awards for his studies of frog skin that can become medicine for 70 major diseases. The researchers receive the credit as a Medical Futures Innovation Awards in London on Monday June 6, 2011.

The study, led by Professor Chris Shaw from Queen's School of Pharmacy has identified two types of proteins that can regulate how the blood vessels can grow.

The research team found that the protein obtained from Waxy monkey frog could inhibit the growth of blood vessels and can be used to kill cancerous tumor cells.

Stopping the blood vessels that supply the food will make a small tumor cells, thereby reducing the chance that it will spread, and can kill cancer tumor. This could be the potential to transform cancer from a terminal disease into a chronic condition, said Prof. Shaw, as quoted by BBC News on Thursday June 9, 2011.

Prof Shaw said that the tumor can only grow to a certain size before the end he needed help blood vessels to grow and give him oxygen and other essential nutrients.

In addition, the research team also found that giant frog firebellied produces proteins that can stimulate the growth of blood vessels and help patients to recover from injury and surgery more quickly.

It has the potential to treat various diseases and other conditions that require quick repair blood vessels, such as wound healing, organ transplant, diabetes, injuries and damage caused by stroke or heart conditions.

Meanwhile Processor Tianbao Brian Walker and Dr. Chen said many great discoveries are very innovative and interesting has been initiated by Professor Shaw. This innovation is an early stage and requires further work to be brought into clinical therapy.
